# Account settings

> How to change your name and password in Aigio, choose your analytics cookie setting, and log out of your account.

**Account settings** is where you change your own details: the name other people see, your password, and your privacy choices. Your account is the same in every workspace, so a change here shows in all of them.

You reach it from your name at the bottom of the left sidebar. The same menu has **Log out**, which signs you out of Aigio.

## At a glance

- **Open Account settings:** Your name at the bottom of the left sidebar > **Account**
- **Change your name:** **Profile** > Type the new name > **Save changes**
- **Change your password:** **Password** > Type your current password and the new one twice > **Change password**
- **Choose analytics cookies:** **Privacy** > Turn **Analytics cookies** on or off
- **Log out:** Your name at the bottom of the left sidebar > **Log out** > The **Log in** page opens

## Open Account settings

1. Click your name at the bottom of the left sidebar. A menu opens with your name and email, **Account** and **Log out**.
2. Click **Account**. The **Account settings** box opens on the **Profile** tab.

The tabs are on the left: **Profile**, **Password** and **Privacy**. Click a tab to switch.

On pages without a sidebar, such as **Your workspaces**, click **Account settings** under the list instead.

To close the box, click the **X** at the top right or press **Esc**.

## Change your name

Your name is shown to the members of your workspaces.

1. Open **Account settings**. The **Profile** tab is open.
2. Click the **Name** box and type your new name. It can be up to 64 characters.
3. Click **Save changes**. The button is greyed out until you change the name.
4. The message **Profile updated.** appears at the bottom right of the screen. Your new name shows in the sidebar straight away.

You can't change your email address here.

## Change your password

1. Open **Account settings** and click **Password**.
2. In **Current password**, type the password you use now.
3. In **New password**, type your new password. It must be 8 to 64 characters.
4. In **Confirm new password**, type the new password again.
5. Click **Change password**.

To check what you typed, click the eye icon at the right of a box.

## Choose your privacy settings

When you first use Aigio in a browser, a **We use cookies** box asks about analytics cookies. Click **I understand** to allow them, or **No thanks** to refuse.

To change your choice at any time:

1. Open **Account settings** and click **Privacy**.
2. Turn **Analytics cookies** on or off.

When it is on, Aigio can link your usage to your account and record sessions to improve the product. When it is off, Aigio only counts visits anonymously, without cookies. The **Privacy policy** link has the details.

## Log out

1. Click your name at the bottom of the left sidebar.
2. Click **Log out**.

On pages without a sidebar, click **Log out** under the list instead.

Aigio signs you out straight away and opens the **Log in** page. It does not ask you to confirm. If you then open a link to a workspace page, the **Log in** page opens instead.

> **Using a shared computer?:** Always log out when you use a shared or public computer. Your browser may also offer to save your password. Don't let it save your password on a shared computer.

## What the error messages mean

| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| **Name is required.** | The **Name** box is empty. | Type your name. |
| **Keep the name under 64 characters.** | The name is too long. | Use a shorter name. |
| **Enter your current password.** | **Current password** is empty. | Type the password you use now. |
| **Password must be at least 8 characters.** | The new password is too short. | Use 8 characters or more. |
| **Password must be at most 64 characters.** | The new password is too long. | Use 64 characters or fewer. |
| **Please confirm your new password.** | **Confirm new password** is empty. | Type the new password again. |
| **Passwords do not match.** | The two new passwords are different. | Type the same password in both boxes. |

## Tips

- Use a password you don't use for any other website.
- If you forgot your current password, you can't change it here. Log out and use **Forgot password?** on the **Log in** page. See [Reset a forgotten password](https://guide.aigio.ai/signing-in#reset-a-forgotten-password).
- Use a name your team will recognise. It's what members see in your workspaces.
