# Content Generation

> How to generate posts, emails, ads and scripts in your brand's tone of voice with Aigio Content Generation, across 13 categories.

**Content Generation** writes everyday marketing content for your brand: posts, emails, ads, scripts, press releases and more. You fill in a short form, and Aigio writes the piece in your brand's own tone of voice.

There are 13 categories, each with several types of content. Each type is built from the sub-modules in **Profiling & Engineering**. A type stays locked until the sub-modules it needs are generated and approved. A few types need no sub-modules and are always open.

Each piece you generate is saved in the **History** list for that type. You can review it, ask for changes, regenerate it, approve it, copy or download it, and delete it.

## The 13 categories

## Open a content type

1. In the left sidebar, click **Content Generation**. The sidebar lists the 13 categories.
2. Click a category. Its page shows a card for each content type.
3. Click a content type. Its page opens with **History** and **Details**.

To go back to the main sidebar, click the back arrow next to **Content Generation** at the top of the sidebar.

## Unlock a content type

A locked type shows a blurred form, a message that the type is locked, and an **Unlock** button.

1. Click **Unlock**. A box opens with the sub-modules you still need to finish:
   - **Not generated**: sub-modules that haven't been written yet.
   - **Pending approval**: sub-modules that are written but not approved yet.
2. Click a sub-module in the list. Its box opens on the same page.

4. Repeat for each sub-module in the list.

When every sub-module is approved, the form appears and you can use it.

## Generate content

1. Open an unlocked content type. The **Details** form shows.
2. In **Who is this content for?**, choose one:
   - **Our brand as a whole**
   - **Specific products**: then pick one or more products in **Which products?**
   - **Specific services**: then pick one or more services in **Which services?**
3. Fill in the fields. The grey text in each box is an example. Fields marked **(optional)** can be left blank.
4. Optional: use **Instructions** to add anything else, for example the length or a topic to avoid.
5. Click **Generate**. The button shows **Generating...**. This can take a minute or two.

When it's done, you see **Added to history**. The new content opens, and it's added to **History**.

If you leave a required field blank, it turns red with a message such as "Time horizon is required.". Fill it in and click **Generate** again.

> **Read it before you publish:** Generated content may include facts Aigio could not check. Read it before you publish or share it.

## Change part of the content

1. Select the text you want changed. The **Suggest a change** box opens above it.
2. Type what you want in **Changes**.
3. Click **Add to changes**. Your note is added to the **Regenerate content** box.
4. Repeat for any other parts you want changed.
5. Click **Regenerate** in the box.

## Regenerate content

1. Click **Regenerate** at the bottom. The **Regenerate content** box opens.
2. Describe the change you want, for example "Make it more concise and add examples". Or leave it empty to try again as is.
3. Click **Regenerate**. The button shows **Regenerating…**. This can take a minute.

The new text replaces the old text in the same History entry.

> **The earlier version is not kept:** Regenerating replaces the text. To keep the earlier version, copy or download it first, or click **+** and generate a new piece instead.

## Approve content

1. Read the content.
2. At the bottom, under **Approve this content?**, click **Approve**.

The question and the **Approve** button go away. **Regenerate** stays, so you can still change the content later.

## Find earlier content

1. Open the content type.
2. In **History**, click an entry. Each entry shows when it was made and one of the values you typed in the form.

To start a new piece, click **+** (**Create new**) next to **History**. On a phone, click **History** to open the list.

## Copy or download content

- To copy the text, click the copy icon (**Copy markdown**) at the top right.
- To save a file, click the download icon (**Download**) and choose **Markdown (.md)** or **PDF (.pdf)**. Aigio saves a file named after the content type.

## Delete content

1. Open the entry in **History**.
2. Click the red bin icon at the top right. A box asks **Delete this content?**
3. Click **Delete** to remove it, or **Keep** to cancel.

> **This cannot be undone:** Deleting content can't be undone.

## What the error messages mean

| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| A field name followed by "is required." | Fill in the field, then click **Generate** again. |
| "Select at least one product." / "Select at least one service." | Pick at least one, or change **Who is this content for?** to **Our brand as a whole**. |
| An error in red above **Generate** or next to **Approve** | Try again. If it keeps happening, contact support. |
| **Category not found** / **Content type not found** | The link is wrong. Open the category from the sidebar instead. |

## Tips

- Finish **Brand Foundation Strategy** in Profiling & Engineering first. Many content types depend on it.
- Use the **Unlock** list as a to-do list. It shows exactly which sub-modules a content type still needs.
- To get several versions, click **+** and generate again. Each one is saved as its own History entry.
- Use **Instructions** for anything the form doesn't ask, such as length, a campaign name or a word to avoid.
