# Media Assets

> How to upload, filter and manage documents, images and videos in Aigio Media Assets, with supported file types and size limits.

Source: https://guide.aigio.ai/media-assets

**Media Assets** is where you keep your brand's files: documents, images and videos. Files you upload here can be used by Aigio across the workspace. For example, they can be used to build your **Brand overview**, to generate sub-modules, and to attach to social posts. Files you upload in those places also appear here.

## At a glance

- **Upload:** **Media Assets** > **Add files** > Pick your files > Wait for **Ready**
- **Find a file:** Filter by type or status
- **View:** **Open in new tab** icon on the file's row
- **Use a file:** In Brand overview or a sub-module, tick the file in the files list
- **Remove:** Bin icon > **Delete**

## Open Media Assets

1. In the left sidebar, under **Menu**, click **Media Assets**.
2. The page shows a table of your files, with **Name**, **Type**, **Size**, **Status** and **Added** (when it was uploaded).

The number next to the page title is how many files you have. If you have many files, click **Load more** at the bottom to see the rest.

## Filter your files

Above the table are two lists:

- **All types**: show only **Documents**, **Images** or **Videos**.
- **All statuses**: show only files that are **Pending**, **Ready** or **Failed**.

To go back to all your files, click **Clear filters**.

## Check which files you can upload

Point to **View supported formats** under the page title. A card lists the file types and the largest size allowed.

| Kind | Largest size | File types |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | 100 MB | CSV, DOCX, MD, PDF, PPTX, TXT, XLSX |
| Images | 100 MB | GIF, JPEG, JPG, PNG, WEBP |
| Videos | 500 MB | MOV, MP4, WEBM |

## Upload files

1. Click **Add files** at the top right.
2. Pick one or more files on your computer and click **Open**.
3. Each file shows a row above the table while it works: **Uploading**, then **Verifying**, then **Uploaded**.
4. When a file is done, its row goes away and the file appears in the table with the status **Ready**.

Small files take only a second or two.

## What the file status means

| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Ready** | The file is uploaded and can be used. |
| **Pending** | The file is still being checked. Wait a moment. |
| **Failed** | The file could not be used. Point to the badge to see why, then upload it again. |

Only **Ready** files can be ticked for use in Brand overview or a sub-module.

## Open a file

Click the **Open in new tab** icon (a box with an arrow) on the right of the file's row. The file opens in a new browser tab.

## Use your files in Aigio

You don't attach files from this page. You pick them where they are needed:

- **Brand overview:** click **Brand files**, tick the files to use (up to 50), then click **Regenerate overview**. See [Brand overview](https://guide.aigio.ai/brand-overview#regenerate-using-your-brand-files).
- **Sub-modules** (under **Profiling & Engineering**): when you generate a sub-module, a files step lists your assets. Tick the ones to use (up to 25) and click **Continue**, or click **Skip** to generate without files. See [Profiling & Engineering](https://guide.aigio.ai/profiling-and-engineering#generate-a-sub-module).
- **Visual Design Brief:** before the questions, tick the files that show how your brand should look (up to 25). See [Visual Design Brief](https://guide.aigio.ai/tools/visual-design-brief).
- **Social posts:** click **Add media** in the post form and tick the files to attach. See [Social Posts](https://guide.aigio.ai/social-posts#add-images-videos-or-documents).

You can also click **Add files** in those places. Those files are saved to **Media Assets** too.

> **Uploading is not the same as using:** Uploading a file does not make Aigio use it straight away. Only ticked files are read, so remember to tick the file where you need it.

## Delete a file

1. Click the red bin icon on the right of the file's row.
2. A box asks **Delete asset?** and names the file.
3. Click **Delete** to remove it, or **Keep** to cancel.

The box closes and the file disappears from the list.

> **This cannot be undone:** Deleting removes the file permanently from the workspace. It is also removed from the Brand overview and sub-modules that used it, so check before you delete.

## What the error messages mean

If an upload fails, its row stays above the table with the reason in red. Click the **×** on the row to clear it.

| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| **"name" is not a supported file type.** | Save the file as one of the supported types (see above) and upload it again. |
| **"name" is larger than the 100 MB limit for documents.** (or images; 500 MB for videos) | Make the file smaller, or split it, then upload it again. |
| **Upload failed.** | Check your internet connection and try again. |
| **The file could not be verified.** | Upload the file again. If it keeps failing, contact support. |

## Tips

- Upload your brand guidelines, logos, product sheets and past content. The more Aigio knows, the better it writes.
- You can pick several files at once when you upload.
- Give files clear names before you upload them. It makes them easy to find when ticking them later.
