**Social Posts** is where you publish to your connected social media accounts. You can publish a post now, pick a time for it to go out, or save it as a draft to finish another time. The page lists every post, with its status.

You need at least one connected account first. See [Social Accounts](https://guide.aigio.ai/social-accounts).

## At a glance

- **Open:** Left sidebar > **Favourites** > **Social Posts**
- **Create a post:** **Create post** > Choose the account and post type > Write the text > **Add media** > Choose when > Click the button at the bottom
- **Change a draft or scheduled post:** Click the post > Change it > Click the button at the bottom
- **Publish a draft:** Click the post > Under **When**, choose **Publish now** or **Schedule** > Click the button at the bottom
- **Fix a problem:** **Needs attention** tab > Follow what the entry says

## Open Social Posts

In the left sidebar, under **Favourites**, click **Social Posts**.

The page has two tabs:

- **Posts**: all your posts, with **Account**, **Type**, **Post**, **Status**, **When** and **Actions**.
- **Needs attention**: posts that failed, stalled or were never confirmed. See [Fix posts that need attention](https://guide.aigio.ai/social-posts#fix-posts-that-need-attention).

The number next to the page title is how many posts you have. If you have many posts, click **Load more** at the bottom to see the rest.

To see only some posts, use the **All statuses** list above the table.

## Create a post

1. Click **Create post** at the top right. The **Create post** box opens.
2. In **Account**, choose the account to post to. Only **Active** accounts are listed.
3. In **Post type**, choose the kind of post. The choices depend on the platform (see the table below).
4. In **Text**, type the text of the post, including any hashtags.
5. (Optional) Click **Add media** to attach files. See [Add images, videos or documents](https://guide.aigio.ai/social-posts#add-images-videos-or-documents).
6. Under **When**, choose one:
   - **Publish now**: the post goes out as soon as you click the button.
   - **Schedule**: pick a **Date** and **Time** in the future.
   - **Draft**: the post is saved, and nothing goes out.
7. Click the button at the bottom. It shows **Publish now**, **Schedule post** or **Save draft**, depending on what you chose.

The box closes and the post appears in the list.

A post needs text, media or both. To close the box without creating a post, click **Cancel**.

If you have no connected accounts, you see **No connected accounts**. Click **Connect an account**.

| Platform | Post types |
|---|---|
| **Instagram** | Feed post, Carousel, Story, Reel |
| **Facebook** | Feed post, Story, Reel |
| **X / Twitter** | Post |
| **LinkedIn** | Text post, Image post, Video post, Document post |
| **Pinterest** | Image pin, Video pin |

> **Publish now goes out straight away:** **Publish now** publishes to your real account as soon as you click the button. Check the account and the text first. To keep working on a post, save it as a **Draft**.

## Add images, videos or documents

1. In the post form, click **Add media**. The **Add media** box opens and tells you what the platform accepts.
2. Tick the files you want from your **Media Assets**. Only files the platform accepts are listed. To upload a new file, click **Add files**. New files are ticked for you and saved to **Media Assets** too.
3. Click **Attach**.

To remove a file from the post, click the **×** on it.

Each platform has its own limits:

| Platform | Images (JPG, PNG) | Videos (MP4) | GIFs | Documents (PDF) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Instagram** | 8 MB | 300 MB | Not accepted | Not accepted |
| **Facebook** | 4 MB | 500 MB | 4 MB | Not accepted |
| **X / Twitter** | 5 MB | 500 MB | 15 MB | Not accepted |
| **LinkedIn** | 8 MB | 500 MB | 8 MB | 100 MB |
| **Pinterest** | 32 MB | 500 MB | 32 MB | Not accepted |

Pinterest posts have extra fields:

- **Board**: the board to pin to. This is required. If your boards have changed, click the refresh button next to the list. If the account has no boards, create one on Pinterest, then refresh.
- **Pin title** (optional): up to 100 characters.
- **Pin link** (optional): the web address the pin opens. You do not need to type "https://".

## What the post status means

| Status | Meaning | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| **Draft** | Saved, and nothing has gone out. | Edit it, publish it, schedule it or discard it. |
| **Scheduled** | Waiting to go out at the time you picked. | Edit it or cancel it. |
| **Published** | The post is live. | Open it on the platform. It can't be edited. |
| **Partially published** | Some destinations published and others didn't. | Open the post to see what happened to each one. |
| **Unconfirmed** | It was sent, but the platform never confirmed it, so it may or may not be live. | Click **Check status**. |
| **Failed** | The post couldn't be published. | Read the reason, then retry or cancel it. |
| **Cancelled** | It won't go out and can no longer be edited. | Nothing. Create a new post if you still need it. |

## Read or change a post

1. Click a post in the list, or the pencil or eye icon on its row. The **Post details** panel opens on the right, with the post's status and time at the top.
2. What you can change depends on the status:
   - **Draft**: change anything, and choose **Draft**, **Publish now** or **Schedule** under **When**. The button at the bottom changes to match.
   - **Scheduled**: change the details, the **Date** or the **Time**, then click **Save changes**.
   - Any other status: you can read the post, but not change it.

The button stays greyed out until you change something. To close the panel, click **Close**.

To see a post on the platform, click **View post** in the panel, or the **Open post** icon on its row.

## Cancel a post or discard a draft

You can cancel a post that is **Scheduled**, **Unconfirmed** or **Failed**, and discard a **Draft**.

1. Click the red icon on the post's row, or at the bottom left of the **Post details** panel.
2. A box asks **Cancel post?** or **Discard draft?**.
3. Click **Cancel post** or **Discard**, or **Keep** to go back.

The post stays in the list with the status **Cancelled**.

## Fix posts that need attention

When something needs you, the **Posts** tab shows a message such as **2 publishing items need attention**. Click **Review**, or open the **Needs attention** tab.

Each entry says what happened and when, and is marked with how urgent it is:

| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Action required** | Something failed and needs you to act. |
| **Attention** | Something needs a look. |
| **Waiting** | Aigio is waiting for the platform. |

To deal with an entry:

1. Read the message.
2. Click the button on the entry if it offers a fix. Where it is safe to do so, Aigio offers one, and a message confirms when it has finished.
3. To see the whole post, click **View post**.

You can narrow the list by kind of problem and by platform, using the two lists at the top. Work that started in the last few minutes is hidden, because it may still finish by itself. To see it, turn on **Include recent**.

If nothing is wrong, you see **Nothing needs attention**.

### Fix a failed post

1. Open the post. The panel explains why it couldn't be published.
2. If the account needs connecting again, click **Reconnect account**, then sign in on the platform.
3. Click **Retry** if the panel offers it.

### Check an unconfirmed post

1. Open the post.
2. Click **Check status**. A message tells you the post's new status.

> **Don't create the post again:** An **Unconfirmed** post may already be live. Check its status before you create it again, so that your followers don't see it twice.

## What the error messages mean

| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Choose an account." | Choose an account in **Account**. |
| "Choose a post type." | Choose a type in **Post type**. |
| "Write something or attach media." | Type some text, or attach a file with **Add media**. |
| "Pick a time." / "Pick a date." | Set the **Time** or **Date**. |
| "Pick a time in the future." | Scheduled posts must be later than now. Choose a later time. |
| "Choose a board." | Choose a Pinterest board in **Board**. |
| "Keep the title under 100 characters." | Shorten the **Pin title**. |
| "Enter a valid link." | Type a full web address in **Pin link**, for example "example.com/bench". |
| A file name followed by "can't be posted to" and a platform | The platform doesn't accept that kind of file. Remove it, or use a different file. |
| A file name followed by "is larger than the" and a limit | Make the file smaller, or use a different file. |

## Tips

- Save a post as a **Draft** so someone else in your workspace can check it before it goes out.
- Plan your posts in the [Calendar](https://guide.aigio.ai/calendar), then publish each one with **Create post** when it is ready.
- Scheduled posts use your computer's time zone.
- Connected accounts and posts are shared. Everyone in the workspace can publish to the same accounts, so agree who publishes what.
